GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay women's basketball team
welcomed its class of 2016 Thursday, Aug. 30 as it was move-in day on the
UW-Green Bay campus with more than 700 students moving into their new homes. Four
of those students are not only looking forward to their first year of college
but their first year donning a Phoenix jersey.
The freshman class of Mariah Monke
(Fergus Falls, Minn.), Brionna Barnett (Elkhart, Ind.), Mehryn Kraker (West
Allis, Wis.) and Kailli Lukan (Barrie, Ontario) along with the help of their
teammates and coaching staff, got settled in to their new homes, ready for
their freshman season as a student-athlete.
"Over the summer I missed my
teammates and the coaching staff so coming back it's like you're home and happy
to see the faces you've known," said Kraker. "It's setting in now, it's real.
I'm looking forward to being back with teammates and friends and take in the
college experience."
Kraker joins the Phoenix from West
Allis while Barnett traveled a bit further, coming from Elkhart, Ind.
"I'm just excited to finally be here,
be on campus and start school and play basketball," Barnett said. "To have the
coaches and other players greet me solidifies why I came here, to be part of
this family."
Classes for all students begin Sept.
