GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) -
For the third time this month, No. 11/11 Green Bay senior
Julie Wojta (Francis Creek, Wis.) earns her third prestigious honor as the 6'0"
forward is a member of the Naismith Women's College Player of the Year
Midseason 32 watch list. Wojta is the first player in Phoenix history to be
named to the coveted list.
Earlier this month, Wojta was a mid-season addition to the Wade Trophy
Watch List and most recently earned a spot on the Capital One All-America
second team. Wojta is the reigning Horizon League Player of the Week for the
fifth time this season and also earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic
All-District 6 Team.
The team captain is having the best season of her career leading the
league averaging 19.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 3.7 steals per game. Wojta has
posted five consecutive double double performances in the month of February and
is one double double shy of tying a program-best 32 since Green Bay moved to
Division I in 1987.
With 95 steals on the season, Wojta is nine away from holding the
individual season record of 104, passing Rhonda Rice who grabbed 103 during the
1995-96 season. The senior forward is also one field goal, six points and nine
free throws away from moving into the top 10 on the individual season record
list in the respective categories.
Wojta also continues to climb her way up Green Bay's career record lists
with her performances. Wojta ranks in the top 10 in seven career statistical
categories including fifth in points (1,498), sixth in rebounds (775), and
steals (256), eighth in field goals made (580) and free throws made (268), 10th
in field goals attempted (1,168) and tied in eighth with 336 free throw
attempts. Wojta is just one of three Phoenix players in program history to be
in the top six in both scoring and rebounding and her current career scoring
average (12.7) ranks eighth on Green Bay's career record list.
With her current scoring average of 19.4 points per game, Wojta is on
pace to finish her career at least fifth all-time in scoring. On Feb. 11
against Wright State, Wojta posted a career-high 30 points, 20 rebounds and
four blocks, setting a Kress Center record in blocks, rebounds, in addition to
grabbing eight steals.

The midseason 32 list was compiled by the Atlanta Tipoff Club's Board of
Selectors, which based its criteria on player performances from the 2011-12
season. The Naismith Award has become the most prestigious award in all of
college basketball, recognizing the Men's and Women's College Basketball Player
of the Year.
Notre Dame
leads the list with three nominees while the Big East has the most nominees
with eight, followed by the ACC and Big 10 with five each.
