GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Green Bay men's basketball head coach Brian Wardle and women's associate head coach Mike Divilbiss joined host Matt Menzl Monday night at The Bar on Holmgren Way for another episode of Inside Phoenix Basketball presented by Miller Lite.
In the first half hour, Wardle and Menzl recap the team's impressive home wins over first-place Valparaiso and two-time defending NCAA tournament runner-up Butler. The show also includes a recap of the gutsy performance by freshman Keifer Sykes (Chicago, Ill.), who scored 14 points and dished out seven assists after having his head cut open on a collision with a Butler player. Sykes scored and registered an assist in three different jerseys (#24, #1, #11) in the win. Also on the show, junior big man Brennan Cougill (Sioux City, Iowa) joins Menzl on set to talk about his recent success. Finally, Wardle rejoins Menzl to preview Saturday's home meeting with Milwaukee for the Black Out Cancer game and Alec Brown (Winona, Minn.) bobble head day.
In the women's portion of the show, Divilbiss and Menzl recap No. 10/9 Green Bay's defensively dominant road wins at Butler and Valpo over the weekend and preview this Saturday's home contest against Milwaukee. The show also features a video piece by junior guard Adrian Ritchie (De Pere, Wis.), which gives fans a glimpse of life on the road with the Phoenix. In addition, Green Bay junior Jenny Gilbertson (Wabasha, Minn.) makes a guest appearance to talk about the team's 19-0 start to 2011-12.
