GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - For the second time this season No. 18/14 Green Bay (12-0, 2-0 HL) senior
Julie Wojta (Francis Creek, Wis.) has been named Horizon League Player of the
Week, announced by the league office Monday. Green Bay opened Horizon League
play Dec. 29 with an 80-63 win over UIC before closing 2011 with a 76-49 win
over Loyola Dec. 31. Wojta averaged 14.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in the pair
of wins.
"There are very
few basketball players that can do all that Julie does and she just keeps
getting better with every game," said fifth year head coach Matt Bollant.
After scoring just
two points in the opening half against UIC, Wojta finished with 14 points and a
game-high 15 rebounds, which also tied a career best. It was Wojta's sixth
double double performance of the season in Green Bay's Horizon League opener.
In Green Bay's
80-63 win over Loyola, Wojta poured in a game-high 15 points, eight rebounds
and four steals in 25 minutes of play.
Wojta has scored

season for the undefeated Phoenix. The senior captain leads Green Bay with an average
19.7 points, shooting 55.8 percent from the field. Wojta is also leading the
way on the boards grabbing an average 10.2 rebounds per contest. Wojta is second in the league in both scoring and rebounding but leads the way with 42 steals.
This is the third
time in her career Wojta has received Player of the Week honors. Wojta also
received the accolade Nov. 27 after her performance in the San Juan Shootout.
For the second
time in program history and second time under Bollant, Green Bay closed a
calendar year with one loss, finishing 2011 with an impressive 34-1 record. The
Phoenix has won 32 consecutive regular season games, the second longest streak
in program history.
Green Bay will travel
to Milwaukee Saturday, Jan. 7 for its lone league contest of the week. The Phoenix
will battle the in-state rival Panthers at 12:30 p.m. at the Klotsche Center.
