GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - After scoring a season-high and Kress Center-record 93 points in its
dominant 93-57 win over Butler Saturday in front of a sellout crowd, the Green
Bay (27-1, 16-0 HL) women's basketball team received its highest ranking in
program history at No. 15 in this week's Associated
Press Top 25 Poll. The Phoenix moved up two spots this week after being
ranked No. 17 the past two weeks.
Green Bay's previous
highest ranking in the AP Poll was 16th on Jan. 13, 2003. Last week the Phoenix
received the program's highest ranking in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll at No. 13. The new Coaches Top 25
Poll will be released on Tuesday.
Green Bay ranks in
the nation's top 10 in eight of the 18 statistical categories including, second
in won-lost percentage (96.4) and assists per game (20.2), third in both
free-throw percentage (78.9) and turnover margin (8.46), fourth in scoring
defense (51.6), sixth in assist turnover ratio (1.25), seventh in scoring
margin (22.2) and 10th in steals per game (12.6).
The Phoenix will wrap
up regular-season play on the road at Wright State (17-10, 10-6 HL) Thursday,
Mar. 3 at 7 p.m. followed by its regular-season finale on Saturday, Mar. 5 at
Detroit (12-15, 6-10 HL) at 1 p.m. Green Bay will host its quarterfinal game of
the Horizon League tournament Wednesday, Mar. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Kress Events
Center.
