Green Bay Hosts In-State Foe Milwaukee Saturday Night

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Horizon League play returns to full swing for Green Bay Saturday when the Phoenix host in-state rival Milwaukee at 7 p.m. at the Resch Center in the first of 11-straight conference contests. Having dropped its past two league games on the road, Green Bay will be playing its first Horizon League home game since defeating Youngstown State 74-59 on Dec. 4, 2010.

Both teams enter Saturday's game on highs after double-digit wins on Monday night. Green Bay defeated Houston Baptist in a non-conference tilt, 77-61, while Milwaukee routed defending HL champion Butler 76-52 to end the Bulldogs' 22-game conference winning streak.

In Green Bay's win, the Phoenix continued its rebounding dominance with a 48-28 edge on the glass, highlighted by two double-doubles and nearly a third. Junior Jarvis Williams (Milwaukee, Wis.) had 14 points and 12 rebounds while freshman Alec Brown (Winona, Minn.) posted 12 points and 10 boards. Fellow freshman Daniel Turner (McCordsville, Ind.) added 14 points and nine rebounds in the victory.

Milwaukee has won two-straight (also beating Detroit) thanks hitting 27 three-pointers in its past two games. Milwaukee has three players averaging in double figures, including Tone Boyle (12.9 ppg), Anthony Hill (12.6 ppg) and Tony Meier (11.2 ppg).

The last meeting in the series was a 61-54 Green Bay victory at the Resch Center on Feb. 6, 2010. Senior Rahmon Fletcher (Kansas City, Mo.) scored 13 in that contest.
