Green Bay Wraps up Homestand Hosting Wright State

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - No. 21 Green Bay (12-1, 1-0 HL) will wrap up its four-game homestand Sunday as it hosts Wright State (8-4, 1-0 HL) at noon at the Kress Events Center.

Both teams enter the contest following come-from-behind wins in their respective Horizon League openers on New Year's Eve. Led by a game-high 12 rebounds and first career double-double, Celeste Hoewisch (Hortonville, Wis.) sparked the Phoenix in its 69-62 win over Detroit (6-6, 0-1 HL). Wright State's Molly Fox poured in a game-high 26 points as part of her double-double in leading the Raiders to a 77-73 win over Milwaukee (3-9, 0-1 HL).

The Phoenix has won the last 16 meetings against Wright State dating back to Feb. 7, 2004. The streak is the second longest Green Bay has against any Horizon League opponent, (Butler, 28 consecutive wins). With its win over Detroit on Dec. 31, Green Bay has won 39 consecutive regular-season Horizon League games on its home court.

In addition to UIC, Wright State is one of two Horizon League teams that have never won in Green Bay against the Phoenix.

League Leaders... Sunday's game will feature some of the league's best in scoring and rebounding. Preseason Second Team All-League selection LaShawna Thomas leads the Horizon League averaging 17.8 points per game while Green Bay's Celeste Hoewisch is 11th with 12.6. Thomas is also dishing out a league best 6.6 assists per contest. Junior Hannah Quilling (Eau Claire, Wis.) is pacing the league with a three point field-goal percentage of .444 while classmate Julie Wojta (Mishicot, Wis.) is second in the conference in free-throw percentage sinking 88 percent of her shots from the charity stripe.

Board Battle... Green Bay has struggled with its rebounding this season and will have a good test Sunday against the Raiders. Wright State leads the Horizon League on defensive boards averaging 31 per contest. Raiders' Junior Molly Fox leads the league on the glass averaging 10.5 boards per game. Fox is also leading the way grabbing 4.3 offensive boards per game.

In the Rankings... In this week's ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll Green Bay moved up two spots to No. 21. The Phoenix is creeping back up in the AP Top 25 Poll. Green Bay is in the 26th spot with 51 points while Florida State (9-3) is No. 25 with 83 points. In addition, the Phoenix has retained the top spot in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll after receiving 28 of a possible 31 first-place votes.

Club Membership... Senior Kayla Tetschlag joined classmate Celeste Hoewisch (Hortonville, Wis.) in the 1,000-point club in Green Bay's 69-62 win over Detroit on New Year's Eve. With 3:54 remaining Tetschlag gave the Phoenix its final lead of the contest off a bucket down low.
