June 15, 2010 - Former
Green Bay men's basketball stand-out Troy Cotton (Milwaukee, Wis.) participated
in a pre-draft workout today at the Milwaukee Bucks Training Center.
Cotton, who has shot more three-pointers (655) than any
player in Phoenix history, was one of two Wisconsin players who participated in
day five of the Bucks pre-draft workouts.
"Troy did a great job of being a competitor today. Just
tough as nails and I really respected the way he played today as well," said
Billy McKinney, Bucks Director of Scouting.
With the Bucks in need of some offensive power, Cotton may
be a good fit on his hometown NBA team, "As a kid you always dream about
playing in the NBA or even trying out for the NBA. Playing at King, I committed
early to playing at UW-Green Bay because I knew that was the place I wanted to
play for. I was blessed to be one of the best players to come out of there and
now I'm just trying to take my basketball a season further," said Cotton.
Cotton played in 131 games which ties the career record for
a player in a Phoenix uniform. In addition, Cotton is second on Green Bay's
record list for three-point field goals made (272).
"Troy Cotton is not only a shot maker but he's a clutch
shooter which is a rarity. Every team needs a player that can make big shots
like Troy can," said Green Bay head coach Brian Wardle.
At the conclusion of Cotton's four year career at Green Bay,
he received several calls from Euro agents but opted to showcase his talents
for the NBA first before weighing other options.
"I feel that I can always do better. Right now, I'm just
working my way to the NBA and the NBA is different than college. Once you learn
all the rules and everything that goes with the NBA and how to become an NBA
player, I'm sure I'll be a fine NBA player," said Cotton.
The Bucks have the No. 15, No. 37 and No. 47 picks in the
draft which tips off Thursday, June 24.
