February 22, 2010 - For
the third time this season and second consecutive week, a Green Bay women's
basketball player has been chosen the Horizon League Player of the Week as
Kayla Tetschlag (Sheboygan, Wis.) receives the honor for Feb. 15-21.
In Green Bay's wins over UIC and Loyola last week Tetschlag averaged
19.0 points and 6.0 rebounds between the two contests. Against UIC she tied her
career high 25 points shooting 9-11 from the field, grabbing nine rebounds.
Tetschlag was one of four Phoenix players scoring in double
figures against Loyola as she shot 4-5 from the field, finishing with 13 points
and a game high four steals.
In addition to leading Green Bay in scoring (15.0 ppg), the
junior leads the Horizon League in field-goal percentage shooting over 61
percent and averaging 14.8 points per contest against conference opponents.
Green Bay's five Player of the Week awards are a League high
for this season. Tetschlag was also named player of the week Dec. 7 and Jan. 4
while teammates Julie Wojta (Mishicot, Wis.) and Celeste Hoewisch (Hortonville,
Wis.) were also named players of the week earlier this season.
Green Bay will make their final regular season road trip
this week as they travel to Valparaiso on Thursday followed by a key match-up
at Butler Saturday.
