February 4, 2010 - Junior
guard Kayla Tetschlag (Sheboygan, Wis.) has been selected to the 2010 District 5, First Team Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team
presented by ESPN The Magazine and CoSIDA.
"Kayla is such a hard worker both in the classroom and on
the court and is so deserving of this recognition," said head coach Matt Bollant.
Tetschlag was selected based on votes from the College
Sports Information Directors of America. Three Academic All-District teams are
chosen in each district, with those on the All-District first teams placed on the
national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
Tetschlag was the only player from the Horizon League
recognized on the Academic All-District teams and one of two Division I players
selected in the state of Wisconsin. In December Tetschlag was also named the
U.S. Army Scholar-Athlete of the Month by the League.
On the court Tetschlag averages 15.2 points
and 6.0 rebounds per game. She has led the Phoenix in scoring seven times this
season, scored in double figures 16 times while putting up two double-doubles.
In addition, Tetschlag was also chosen as the Horizon League Player of the Week
Jan. 4.
In the classroom the Business Administration
major maintains a 3.73 grade-point average and finished the fall semester with
a cumulative g.p.a. of 3.78. In addition Tetschlag has been named to the
Horizon League Academic Honor Roll and the Green Bay Dean's List during her
career. In December, she was also the recipient of the Who's Who Among Students
in College and Universities award which is given to students who demonstrate
academic success and campus and community involvement.
