GREEN BAY,
Wis. - Prep stars Kameron Cerroni (Sussex, Wis.) and Daniel Turner
(McCordsville, Ind.) have signed National Letters of Intent to play basketball
for Green Bay beginning in the 2010-11 season, Phoenix Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk
announced on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.
Cerroni, a
6-foot-2 guard, is ranked No. 4 among state seniors in the class of 2010 by
Wishoops.net. He averaged better than 20 points per game in each of his past two
seasons for Sussex Hamilton. His sophomore scoring average of 26.3 ranked third
in the state.
He is a
two-time all-state performer according to the Associated Press, earning
second-team accolades in 2008-09 and fourth-team honors in 2007-08. Cerroni was
tabbed Division 1 first-team all-state by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches
Association following his sophomore and junior seasons. In addition, he was a
three-time all-conference selection.
Cerroni scored
21.7 points per game as a junior and totaled a school-record 1,377 points
during his three-year varsity career. He will sit out his entire senior season after
undergoing successful ACL surgery. His father, Andy, served as his prep coach. Cerroni
played AAU basketball for the Wisconsin Playground Warriors.
"Kam Cerroni
is without question one of the best shooters this state has seen in quite some
time," Kowalczyk said. "He is a skilled player and a tough kid who knows how to
play the game. I think that having a coach's son on your team is always a plus."
Turner, a
6-foot-6 forward, averaged a double-double last year while leading Mount Vernon
High School to its most wins (17) in a decade. He earned All-East Conference
Player of the Year honors after posting 13.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.
He ranked second on his team in assists (3.2) and was first in steals (1.6).
Ranked as the
ninth-best small forward prospect in the state according to Indiana Basketball
Digest, Turner was considered the 19th-best player in the class of
2010 according to Indiana Hoops.
"We are
delighted to have Daniel become part of the Green Bay basketball program,"
Kowalczyk said. "He is a tough, skilled competitor who plays extremely hard and
makes all the hustle plays. Daniel comes from a great basketball state and a
strong high school program."
